Delta Spirit “Bushwick Blues” New Video
Posted by admin | Filed under Music Im Diggin
This the second video for Delta Spirits “Bushwick Blues” and it’s awesome. I loved the first live one a lot but the cinematic version brings it. You can never go wrong with and old diner scene. Do yourself a favor and listen to them. Thanks to Sean from @DogAndPonyShowPrints for turning me onto them.

Un-Even Stevens… The King Cool-bert.

So Today my friend Eskee informed me of another “Hilarious Poster Rip” from the World Wide Internets… This time it was my beloved Steve McQueen Tribute. It’s so bad it hurts. Neither The Great King of Cool Steve McQueen or the Awesome Steven Colbert deserve this kind of mutiny aboard my ship. I especially love it when they don’t even bother to change the color scheme. Here’s the initial find on Creattica.com and here is the perpetrators website so you can watch and make sure your stuff doesn’t end up on there www.combustiblefreddy.com. And if you want to send them some awesome emails like I’m about to do, here is the Scallywags Email Addy. Fire the Cannons!!!
AIGA Always Summer Poster – Cruel Summer

It’s that time again for the second annual AIGA Always Summer Poster Show & Mixtape. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows next to the SkateDeck show we do every year. For those of you not familiar with it, Each artist/designer picks a favorite summer song of theirs and designs around it, and the DJ’s spin the songs during the festivities. This year we chose an old Favorite called CRUEL SUMMER by an 80’s group named BANANARAMA. For both Grease & I, the first thing that comes to mind when we hear this song is the scene from KARATE KID where Danielson and Ali are playing soccer. So that’s where we went with it, and had a blast doing so. So much in fact we thought about doing a series of overprints like this, but then we start thinking about how long it took to do all those portraiture’s… haha! We’ll See.
This poster was a first for Grease and I, in that this was the first time we purposely tried to do an overprint with transparency using the extender. We experimented with the ratio’s quite a bit and pretty much found out that its trial by fire, and also that the paper color and background solid play a pretty big part of it. We actually printed this poster on both Khaki French Speckletone and solid white sheets. Both seem to yield pretty big differences but both had their own special qualities. The White definitely popped more and played better to the halftones in the brighter orange but the khaki soaked up the orange quite a bit letting the transparency come through a lot more. We might try one more color combo with this print just to experiment with the transparency a bit more, so we’ll keep you posted. We’ll post pics of the actual poster real soon.
You can also check pics of the show on @PointShootEnjoy flickr set & on the Jensen Hande Blog.

AARP Magazine Illustration – Bring The Muscle
Posted by admin | Filed under Printing Press
So about a month ago, Grease and I were contacted by the AARP Magazine to do a typographic illustration for an editorial assignment about traveling. We were super excited about it until we found out what type of subject matter they wanted, which is when we lost our minds, A 65 Mustang! If there’s one thing we love to illustrate more than any other, it would be Muscle Cars. So we jumped at the opportunity and hit the gas. Below are some graphics of the final piece, an alternate version with a 65 mustang GT 500, and some sketched concepts that we originally presented without the actual car. Thanks to Dian for giving us the opportunity to work on such a fun project. www.aarp.org/magazine
For those of you not familiar with the AARP Magazine, here are some Fun Facts:
- Established in 1958, AARP The Magazine is a bi-monthly magazine published by AARP, which focuses on aging issues.
- The magazine is sent to every AARP member, and thus is the largest circulation magazine in the United States; it has held that position since the late 1980s.

Bruce Bruce 30th Birthday “Bropher” Illustration
Posted by admin | Filed under Stencils & Illustrations
So my long time buddy / partner in crime Michael “Bruce Bruce” Limanti just had his 30th Birthday party, and we celebrated in style at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in the infamous “Pub 17″ which is normally restricted to players and founding members, but thanks to Bruce’s lovely girlfriend Steph we got the hook up! We also got to play The Stadium Course just 9 days after the The Players Championship, which is crazy. They hadn’t even taken down the bleachers yet so it was pretty cool. The Illustration above is from the Invitation I made for the party. Anytime I can illustrate one of my friends faces sticking out of a mascot costume I’m on it. And Bruce’s giant goatee made it even better. Then to add to the madness, Bruce’s brother Lance actually came dressed up in a Gopher/Beaver/Bear costume. Check out the slide show below courtesy of PointShootEnjoy.
More Pics of the actual round we played on the Stadium Course Coming Soon… Thanks Steph!
AGAINST ME! New Video & EP – Rapid Decompression.
Posted by admin | Filed under Music Im Diggin
The new “I Was a Teenage Anarchist – EP” is out a bit early but I am so stoked. The four song EP includes the tracks “I was a teenage anarchist”, “Rapid Decompression”, “One By One”, and Bitter Divisions”. I have always liked to think of Against Me! as our Generations mix of the Ramones and a little bit of Irish Whiskey and Rapid Decompression definitely helps my case. I love the Black and White live videos. If you have ever been to an Against Me show at Common Grounds in Gainesville that is pretty much dead on. Your Sweating even if your standing still. Keep it up guys, I can’t wait till the full album release. – TRON
SXSW Goods for Hashrocket & Cliqset
Posted by admin | Filed under Friendspiration, News and Updates, Posters
So even though Halftone Def didn’t grace SXSW with our physical presence this year, we will be there in limited edition design. Our good buddy Dennis from Thought & Theory and currently HASHROCKET hit Halftone Def up to do a limited run poster for them to hand out to a select few at SXSW and The good Folks at CLIQSET also hit Halftone Def up about a month back to make a VOLTRON inspired shirt for them to hand out. We didn’t print these though thank gawd, as you can see they were pretty complex with lots of colors and they were a run of 200. But thanks to Dan @Vivid Images we got that part handled! Until next SXSW next year -TRON OUT!

It’s one thing to see a design student take one of your designs and try to use it in their portfolio or online somewhere, but seeing a rather large Motocross Company from the west coast producing thousands of shirts with a busted version of your design all over the country is a whole other ball game. I mean when I saw it on their website I was pissed, but when I found 15 google searched pages of other online stores selling these shirts including Ebay and Amazon… The Game was a foot. Thanks to Clif for seeing this here at a local store in Jax and bringing it to my attention. Lord help me.
What chaps my ass the worse about this is that they took my type (which is not a font, but hand lettered type made to fit perfectly inside the skull and around the eyes, nose, & teeth) and just rearranged it to spell what they needed. The only letter they were missing was the “i” which they conveniently used the “t” with dot. And they didn’t even have the respect enough to actually vector trace some good icons either… just plain ole nasty rastered them thangs right in and done.
So Listen up, you little spazoids. “I know where you live and I’ve seen where you sleep. I swear to everything holy that your mothers will cry when they see what I’ve done to you.” – Tommy Boy
